Terms of use

These cover cogged.co.uk, this website. The Cogged app is not released; when it is, it will have its own terms and this page will point at them.

Who runs this site

cogged.co.uk is operated by No Fear Tech Ltd, a company registered in England. You can reach us at hello@cogged.co.uk about anything on this page.

What this site is

A description of a product that is still being built. Everything here about what Cogged does is a statement of how it is designed and what it is intended to do, not an offer, a warranty, or a promise that a particular feature will exist on a particular date.

We may change the product, the described behaviour, or these terms. Where we change something material we will move the date at the top on the same day rather than afterwards.

Nothing here is repair advice

Working on a vehicle is dangerous and the risk is yours. Nothing on this website is advice about your car, and no example figure shown here should be used on one. Illustrative specifications appear on this site to show how the product presents information — they are not a source, and they are not for your vehicle.

Cogged is a guide, not a mechanic. It cannot see your car, your tools or the surface you are working on. It is not a substitute for a workshop manual, for the correct equipment, or for a qualified technician, and on anything that carries someone’s life on it a professional inspection is worth more than any amount of confident narration.

Where the law allows us to, we exclude liability for loss or damage arising from work you carry out on a vehicle. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and we are not attempting to.

Using the site

You may read it, link to it, and share it. Please do not:

The Cogged name, the mark and the wordmark belong to No Fear Tech Ltd. Ask us before using them and the answer will usually be yes.

Links out

We link to other sites — legislation, regulators, data providers — where it is useful. We do not control them and we are not responsible for what they say or do.

Accuracy

We try to keep this site correct and current, and we will fix errors when we find them or when you tell us. But the site describes work in progress, and no page here is a guarantee about the finished product.

If you think something on this site is wrong — particularly anything to do with safety — email us with Safety in the subject line and we will check it.

Your data

This site collects nothing until you agree to it. What Google Analytics does, what it sets, and how to change your mind are all set out in the privacy notice, which is specific rather than generic.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
